She’s slowly pulled back into the lifestyle she worked so hard to get away from ten years ago. She accepts that this is the life she has always been destined to live.

Now that Holden is finally back home from the Navy he plans on following in his father’s footsteps. Still trying to move on from the one woman who had his heart, he busies himself in work and returning to the country boy lifestyle he’s always loved.

Book Trailer
Holden I really don’t want to quit swinging. But the fact that I’m starting to get a boner has me thinking I really need to slow down, get off the swing, and adjust myself without Dani catching me. Once the swing comes to a stop, neither happens. Instead, Dani leans back and looks at me. Her blue eyes shining bright, I watch her face, as she seems deep in thought. And then… she smiles. A full blown, heart pounding, boner-inducing smile that has me wanting to turn this into some kind of kinky sex swing. “What?” I smile back.
She’s contagious and I have a feeling that I don’t ever want to find the antidote. I don’t need to be getting attached, but it’s not like I live in a different state. I mean my home home, the one I grew up in, is only two hours away. People make it living twenty hours away. Yes, I work different places all the time, but it doesn’t mean anything.
In all reality, I’m still searching for my place to put down my own roots. I don’t have to go back home one day. With my job, it’s almost expected that I never do. It’s not like my dad visits as much as he should, so why should I have an actual home if I don’t ever get to see it or enjoy it. “I just really like hanging out with you. It’s been a while since I’ve truly been happy.
So, for that, thank you.” And with that little thanks said, she bends down and shows me her gratitude by placing her lips on mine. She tries to make it short and sweet, and pulls away not knowing if she should fully press on, but I quickly pull her tightly back in with one hand on the back of her head and the other holding her cheek. I open my mouth, encouraging her to do the same.
Her tongue soon finds mine. I haven’t legitimately made out with a girl in what seems like forever. Yes, I kissed the girls that I’ve slept around with, but I have never felt anything, because I’ve never felt anything towards them. I haven’t been friends with them or haven’t known anything about them, so it’s been easy.
I’ve had no trouble keeping everything shut off. But with Dani, I feel. And I like feeling. “Wait, I can’t do this.” She pulls back from me trying to free herself from my hold. “Why not?” I ask as confusion sets in. “Because, I’m trying not to get attached to someone. And I’m already doing that with you.” Grabbing her face in my hands, I force her to look me in the eyes as I ask her, “Do you want to be with me, Dani?” “Holden, it doesn’t matter what I want. I gave that up months ago.” Deep sadness fills her eyes. I’ve finally found this sweet woman who makes my head all crazy, stupid with thoughts of things I believed I’d never have, and she has the weight of the world on her shoulders.
She doesn’t have to say it, but I can tell that she feels like everyone else in her life has to come first. The guilt that she won’t let go of is heavy enough, let alone this extra burden that she’s placed upon herself. “What you want matters to me, and it should matter to you.” “You don’t even live here. One day you’ll be picking back up and moving along to your next destination.” Not only is she worried about the life she has here, she’s worried about the life I’d have away from her.
There are ways around obstacles, and if this whole thing with us is going to be a giant sized puzzle, then I’m going to solve it.
If both people want something bad enough, then there is a solution for it.

Meet the Author

My name is Wendi Hulsey. I was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee. After several vacations to the sunshine state, my husband and I fell in love with the warm weather and decided to have a house built in Florida. I miss my family and friends up north;however, I will never regret not having to shovel snow again. I have been a registered nurse for about ten years. I currently work on a medical/surgical unit, preferring to work the night shift.

My husband and I have been married for sixteen years, and I appreciate his support during this endeavor. I have one son who is a hard working grown man now living on his own. He has blessed me with the most precious grandson and a wonderful future daughter in law. My daughter is a beautiful and smart teenager who excels at just about anything she tries. She enjoys playing soccer and we have spent numerous hours on various soccer fields. I am blessed to have my mother, a retired cook, living with me and she is a great help with cooking, cleaning, and chauffeuring the teenager. Other members of our family include; one dog, one cat, two turtles and several fish.

My love for reading began at the age of twelve on a stormy day. With nothing to do I was bugging my mother, she said, “Go read a book.” I have never stopped. As a teenager, I preferred horror books, mainly Stephen King. As I age, my reading tastes change and I currently read mysteries, romance, or erotica. It has always been my dream to write a book. Although writing is a hobby for me, I hope to produce a book to the best of my abilities and hope you have enjoyed what you read. Thank you for your support.

Lindy POV

"What’re you doing?"
"I was going to turn the TV to something you like."
"No need."
I give him a smile. "I know you don’t like my vampire shows. We can watch something else."
He places a soft kiss on my lips. "Do you like this shit?"
I nod my head yes.
"Then I’ll watch it with you. Who knows, it may not suck. If it does, I will still earn a blowjob for watching it."
I can feel my eyes get big. "You think you earn a blow job for watching my TV shows?"
He nods. "Hell, yeah! We’ve got a give and take kind of thing going on. I give by watching your show. Then later you take my dick in your mouth."
"What about when I watch NASCAR with you? Will you, you know?" I say with a giggle.
"Baby, you ain’t got to do shit for me to eat that pussy. Anytime you want my mouth between your legs, all you gotta do is spread ’em," he says with a panty-dropping lascivious smirk.

2014: WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Nacole Stayton's IN THE LYRICS!

IN THE LYRICS will be published February 7, 2014.

Hensley Bradley is the definition of the girl-next-door. She’s kindhearted, beautiful, and talented. Bored with her mundane life, thoughts of fleeing her small town begin to consume her. With aspiring dreams to use her voice as a one-way ticket, she suddenly discovers that music might not be her only passion.

After a fallout back home, Colby Grant decides to leave his family’s farm, determined to show his father he’s more than just a wanna-be country singer. With his All-American good looks, it doesn’t take long for girls in his new town to focus their eyes on him. But things aren’t what they appear from the outside, and it isn’t long until Colby feels he doesn't fit into the perfect world that so quickly embraced him.

A chance encounter places Hensley in Colby’s path, but it isn’t her natural beauty that first captures his attention – it’s her voice.

When love and music mix, will the combination blossom into a beautiful melody or wither into a heart-wrenching tune?

She arrives for her internship in her old jeep with 20 bucks until her first paycheck -- but she has a job! A dream job that will get her into the Industry...or she thought she did until she finds out that CTA gave her job away! Now she's broke, unemployed and stuck in LA with no safety net. Dillon MacAvoy has one goal--to become a star.
His agent and publicist have been honing his bad-boy can't-be-tamed forever-single image in preparation for the release of Dillon's first film. An image that will sell tickets, solidify Dillon's career. Besides, it's an image that is very close to the truth.
Nothing matters to Dillon but his career and his brother. He's got offers for great roles stacking up but the studios are getting ready to pull the deals if he won't give them answers. Problem? He keeps sleeping with his script readers and then tossing them aside.
Then Dillon's brother Choo finds the perfect reader for Dillon, a reader that is completely untouchable--Choo finds Lane Channing. Lane is saved by the job opportunity to read for Dillon MacAvoy and if she can last the entire summer as his reader then she will have a job next spring when she graduates college.
But she will have to ignore the heat that pulses through her whenever Dillon is in the room. Dillon can't get distracted by Lane--she could ruin the brand that his agent and publicist have built a brand that includes Dillon as forever single bad boy--an image that as Dillon gets to know Lane Channing might not fit his identity anymore.

Sneak Peek Excerpt

I couldn’t stop myself. I wanted to because I didn’t want to hurt Lane. I didn’t want to draw here into my insane world. I wanted her to read for me this summer and then go back to Kansas where she could meet someone good for her, someone that would take care of her, but when I looked in her eyes and saw that she understood.
She got how hard it was to go into that room and pretend to be happy but how it was also an honor and of course I couldn’t cry in there. It was tragic and sad but it would be selfish to cry--that family was experiencing that pain.
It was my job, to do the very best I could to bring some light and joy into that room if only they got to have their son for 6 days or 6 months I was meant to lighten their load. I wasn’t the star of that show. And Lane got it. Her lips trembled and her voice shook and her eyes those damn turquoise eyes with specks of green were wet and wide and she was just so their and so alive and so beautiful what else---there was nothing else I could do. I wanted her. I’d wanted her from the moment I met her.
I needed to kiss her, it wasn’t a choice. I reached out and I grabbed her by both arms and pulled her to me. Her lips were soft and at first surprised but she yielded to me. I pressed her against the elevator wall. My mouth was so greedy for her.
Heat burst through my belly. I was hard and my cock throbbed. I hadn't been this turned on -- ever. My hand skimmed over her bare thigh and along the edges of her shorts. Damn that amazing beautiful thigh. My hand pressed up over the top of her shirt, against her waist and to the edge of the roundness of her breast. A soft moan came from deep in her throat and I nearly exploded. She pressed her hips forward against mine. I touched the edge of her breast and another soft little moan escaped her throat. A moan that nearly undid me. I pressed harder against her.
Then the elevator dinged. I looked at her and the heat in my body stunned me. What was I thinking? We were in a fucking elevator in a hospital? I wasn’t ... I couldn’t think, that was obvious--I couldn’t even think when Lane was around. I jerked away from Lane and burst off the elevator and toward the hospital doors. I needed air. This...I hadn’t meant to, didn’t -- shouldn’t have.
Fuck what had I done? I looked over my shoulder once before I slammed through the automatic doors, the look on Lane’s face--the look she was shocked and surprised and stunned.
Her fingers lingered on her lips where seconds before my lips had been.

Book excerpt:
Book 2 Bayou Stix

"I’m walking down the hall to my suite and I see Jessie’s suite door fly open and some disheveled blonde skank stomps out. She’s screaming into the room that he’s a “fucking asswipe” with her shoes in her hand, flipping him the bird with the other hand, and her hair is a mess. Classy.
She marches past me, jostling me with her shoulder, and never even spares me a glance. Stupid bitch. “Excuse you! Watch where you’re going!” Then, shaking my head, I mutter, “Bitch!”
My room is two doors down from his, so I have to walk past it. The door apparently didn’t latch from her “graceful exit” and is still open. My eyes stray to the inside of the room as I reach it. They widen as I take in the mess. Sheets and clothes are everywhere. Things are knocked over and, holy shit… is that a bra hanging from the light?
I can’t help but notice Jessie with his back to the door. He’s on the phone as he strips the bed and throws everything to the floor. He’s wearing nothing but a pair of low riding boxer briefs and I can clearly see his muscled, tattooed back. The colorful artwork on his arms ripples as he removes the sheets. His shoulder length blond hair is messy. Like someone, the skank I’m sure, has been running their hands through it.
I think I gasp. I hate that he gets my blood pumping and not just because he pisses me off! He hears me, and whips his head around. Shit!
His sky blue eyes meet mine and I can see he’s pulling on his lip ring with his teeth. His eyebrow raises and he smirks at my expression. I hurriedly school it as he strolls to the door. He stops right in front of me and leans against the doorjamb. “Really, Blue? Spying on me?” he says with disdain."

Blog Tour: His Wounded Light by Christine Brae

Title: His Wounded Light
Author: Christine Brae
Published: Dec 10th, 2013
Hosted by: The Book Avenue

The perfect life.

The perfect marriage.

The jilted lover.

Their worlds collide.

Fate intervenes twelve years later and their paths intersect once again. All three will question whether the heart is truly capable of dividing and being divided; each will decide whether it matters who you loved first or who you love last.

Together they will learn that in the end, there can always only be one.

“Good evening, everyone. So sorry we're late.”
I turn my head in the direction of her eyes.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I mutter under my breath.
It's Jesse Cain. I glare at Betty, and she responds by shrugging her shoulders. I remember that she said she no longer bothers with the seating arrangements.  I’m left with no choice but to get up from my chair and shake his hand.
“Cain, how are you?” I ask rather hypocritically. I can’t even stand to be in the same country as him, let alone share a table with this guy. One at which he sits so close to my wife, no less.
“Ailey,” he says coolly. “This is my fiancĂ©e, Rose.”
I offer my hand to her and she shakes it warmly. She's very pretty, almost beautiful, but certainly not Isabel stunning, at least to me.  She’s quite voluptuous and her dress leaves little to the imagination. I guess she has to compete for his attention, given that he is one of the most eligible bachelors in the country. He’s clearly a crowd drawer at fundraising events like these.  I’ll never know why, since he’s such an arrogant ass. Cain pulls her seat out for her and remains standing. Sure enough, he walks over to Betty and Isa.
“Betts.” He gives her a hug and offers his hand to Leigh, who shakes it disinterestedly.
Okay, here it comes.
Wait. No. She’s getting up. Why is she getting up?
He leans down to give her a hug. “Hi, Isa. Nice to see you.”
She embraces him a little too warmly. The smile on her face as she says his name slays me. “Hi, Jess.”
As soon as Cain takes a seat next to me, I lean over and whisper in her ear. “It's Jess-e. There's an E at the end.”
She responds by taking my hand, slipping it through the slit of her dress and resting it on her thigh.  If I stretch my finger out far enough, I’ll be able to touch that part of her that might get her attention. Out of the blue, I have the urge to take the napkin on her lap and tie it around her neck to cover up her chest. Sort of like a bib in a seafood restaurant.
“He looks at you all googly-eyed like that one more time and I'm going to poke his fucking eyes out,” I whisper, punctuating my words with light squeezes of her thigh.
She thinks I'm kidding so she laughs.
