Spotlight & Giveaway: House of Pleasure by Caddy Rowland

House of Pleasure (There was a House)
Caddy Rowland

Episode 1:
There Was a House saga, a continuing story of revenge and redemption.

Fueled by rage and disgust, Phoenix runs away from home. The situation there had become unbearable. In fact, things couldn't get any worse.

But they do. Betrayed in New York by a boy who she thought was a new friend, she finds herself taken prisoner by a low-class pimp. Then, when she thinks she's on her way to her first seedy trick, Phoenix winds up locked in a limo with no way out. She wakes up in an illegal brothel in New Orleans. Phoenix vows she will find a way to destroy Antoine, the owner of the brothel. Instead of being Antoine's prostitute, she'll become his lover, his confidante, and pretty soon, his manager. And then, when he least suspects it, she'll bring the entire house down.

She better be damn good. T
here will only be one chance.

House of Pain (There was a House 2)

Episode 2:
There Was a House saga, a continuing story of revenge and redemption.

The need for revenge boils in Phoenix's veins. It's been almost two years since Antoine Chevalier abducted her, with the intent of prostituting her at Rêve, his illegal brothel in New Orleans. At least she has convinced him of her love and loyalty, becoming his lover and house manager instead of one of the whores. Still, she won't rest until Antoine, his house, and his sickest customers are destroyed.

Jamie has his own issues to worry about. Dumped off and abandoned at Rêve by his homophobic father, he must allow himself to be prostituted or be sold off to be used on the streets of a city like New York, where he'd end up whoring anyway. If he and Phoenix can convince Antoine there's money to be made by having him available, Jamie will do everything in his power to stay where it's much safer. He'll make damn sure to play the role of flaming queen to the hilt. With his delicate Peter Pan looks, who would expect much else? There's no need to show the real person behind the façade—not until he knows for sure how deeply he can trust Phoenix.

Jamie is the wildcard. He'll be integral in taking Antoine down, Phoenix is sure of it; and

who would suspect such a sweet looking pretty boy?
If only opportunity would present itself.

Available on kobo next week and soon on I-tunes.

Sex trafficking has a 39 BILLION dollar profit annually, and the average age of teens forced into this is 12-14. This saga deals with this difficult subject, although the teenagers have it a whole lot easier than 99.9% of those trafficked. Until we find a way to stop this horror from happening I'm afraid the only revenge will continue to be in fiction.
Author Bio:

Caddy Rowland grew up with a stack of books that almost reached the ceiling before she was five. Books, along with her vivid imagination, have always been some of her closest friends.

She lives with her husband, who was her high school sweetheart. They are owned by two parrots. Besides being a writer, she is an artist. One can often find her "makin' love to the color" (painting) with loud music blaring.

Her goal as an author is to make readers laugh, cry, think, and become intimately connected with her main characters. She writes dramatic novels showcasing the sublime joy and bitter tragedy of being human. Most all of her work is LGBT inclusive. In other words, she strives to make her work reflect humanity as it really is: varied and interesting.

How long have you been writing and who influenced you?
I’ve written my whole life, but never completed a novel and published it until 2011. I don’t know that one person influenced me. Instead, I write the kinds of things I like to read, in the style I most prefer: gritty, raw, emotional, dramatic, and sometimes brutal. Always “real”. I don’t write “pretty” stories, although there are some beautiful moments. I strive to make people think and feel. To show them there is really very little black and white in life, but mostly shades of grey.

Where is your favorite place to write?
When weather permits outside on our deck.

 What makes you laugh/cry?
Laugh: The crazy things kids say, a good joke, and unexpected happy moments in time.

Cry: A good book or movie, deep feelings toward another…I cry easily.

 Worst Habit
I eat too much popcorn with butter.

 Embarrassing Moment
When I was eighteen or nineteen, I was making fun of a guy that had a watch that played “Happy Birthday”. I was telling a group of people about it at a party, and called the guy a dork and mentioned that he was a loser. (Hey, I was a teenager!) As soon as I said it, I realized he was standing there in the group, and wearing the watch. Um, yeah. Taught me a good lesson about being mean about people. And I don’t know why I thought that watch was so awful.

What’s the last movie you watched and loved?
Wasn’t a movie, it was the HBO series True Detective. Absolutely the best writing I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching, for either movie or TV. I aspire to write that style that well.

 One of your favorite quotes.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” –Pablo Picasso

Why a saga on sex trafficking?
Because it’s a serious problem, a horrific tragedy that is happening right under our noses. Here in the USA it happens every single day. Thousands per year. Average age? 12 to 14. Oh, and 2% of male. The males are almost never talked about.

Although my saga puts the victims in a much nicer place then 99.9% work in, and revenge is only a dream for these poor teenagers, I hope by writing a fictional story about it more people’s eyes are opened and we start demanding justice for the victims and punishment for the pimps and johns. Right now, the victims are treated as criminals. That’s just plain wrong. They are forgotten, or treated like garbage, when their only crime was being forced into slavery.

**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content.

Read where it all began in the final installment of The Beautiful Series.

Sarah Thompson...

You already know Gabe and I get our Happily Ever After.  You might be asking yourself what’s the point in this story when you already know the outcome?  We get married.  We have a child.  The thing is, while we get to the happy part, it was a difficult and turbulent ride to get to that very point.

I made choices.  He made choices.  We both made choices and sometimes they were filled with regrets.  But you can’t change it.  And I wouldn’t want to because we grew from it.  We learned.  We fell in love.

With Gabe?  They were the most tear-filled, screaming and yelling moments of my life.  They were disastrous and ugly.  And I wouldn’t change them for anything.  Why you ask?  They became the most beautiful choices of my life.  So for that sole reason—I wouldn’t change a damn thing.

Gabe Prescott...

I made very few choices in life.  For the most part people made my choices for me.  I never got to choose anything . . . besides Sarah Thompson.  The beautiful, blonde haired selfish-bitch who was best friends with my boy Ryder.

I honestly don’t know how the hell he survived that cold-heart.  Yet somehow I melted that icy heart and fell in love.  I made that choice.  And while the road was sometimes the ugliest, it still to this day is the most beautiful choice I ever made.

For the past 21 years, I have been a planner and an organizer.  I always needed things a specific way and then everything changed for me.  I've always had a vivid imagination and thoughts racing through my mind.  I realized that life is way too short to let things pass me by, because in the blink of an eye everything could change.  So I decided to just live in the moment, taking every chance and opportunity led my way.  No second thoughts and just going with the flow.
I decided to put the fictional characters and the conversations going on in my head to paper. I know, it makes me sound crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  I've embraced crazy and hectic and last minute because it's led me to making my dreams a reality.
When I'm not writing Happily Ever After's I'm reading about them and living one.  I think this world is filled with too much sadness already we don't need to read about it as well.  I write because I love it and I've allowed my imagination to run wild and be crazy and free. Just like me.

T.K. Rapp is a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend - a writer. She’s a lover of music, photography and raunchy television (the raunchier, the better.) If you asked her friends what words they would use to describe her: an incurable dork, slightly awkward, loyal to a fault, a bit of a gossip, and a bit bitchy. (She tends to agree with all of them in some small measure.)

In July of 2013, T.K. published her first novel, Being There. Set in Texas, Being There tells the story of Cass, as she encounters life-altering news and the reemergence of old friends in her life. It was a lifelong dream for T.K. to write something and see it published, a feat she is incredibly proud of.

Her latest novel, Mine to Lose, was released in January of 2014. MtL is a story about Emogen Kane - who finds her relationship with her fiancé, Ryan, falling apart. She’s left wondering if they were meant to be, or if it’s time to move on.

Rapp is currently working on completing the follow-up to Mine to Lose, titled - Mine to Steal - due to release Mid-May 2014.

When not writing, T.K. can be found chauffeuring Gidget & Peese (her kids) to their various activities or hanging out with her husband.

The inside of the bank greeted me with a blast of cold air and was just as brightly lit as the sidewalk outside. The walls in here were white and so were the glossy tile floors. I stepped through the roped off line, lining up behind several others already waiting. Four tellers stood behind the long wooden counter, each with their own computer.
It seemed like I stood in line forever and I grew irritated because I just wanted to get the hell out of here and onto the open road.
Finally it was my turn and I moved down the counter toward the last window on the end. I yanked my wallet and bank card, then looked up.
Suddenly the amount of time I waited didn’t seem like such an inconvenience. In fact, if I had known she was the person waiting for me at the end of this counter I would have waited longer.
Her light scarlet hair was long and filled with loose curls that fell over her shoulder and down her chest. Her complexion was flawless with the flush of fresh peaches and her lower lip was fuller than the top, making it appear as though she had a permanent pink pout.
“How can I help you today?” she asked, politely, glancing up with crystal green eyes. I watched them widen slightly and rich satisfaction flowed through me. I wasn’t pretty like her but I wasn’t completely lacking in the looks department.
“Hey,” I said, leaning on the counter with both my elbows. The movement brought me a little closer to her. “I need to make a withdrawal.”
She glanced down at the bank card and ID I extended between us and then back at me. I gave her a lazy smile and she cleared her throat, taking the cards. She looked them over and then her polished fingernails flew over the keyboard.
I glanced at her chest, being distracted by her nice rack but my eyes finally finding the nameplate pinned to the front of her top. Taylor.
“How much would you like to withdrawal?” she asked.
“Four hundred.”
She inputed the amount without saying anything.
“So,” I said, leaning toward her again. “You come here often?”
She rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. “Just the days I feel like earning a paycheck.”
I grinned. “Paychecks are overrated.” I drawled. “I’m going fishing.”
“Says the man with a huge bank account,” she quipped. Then she winced and looked up. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t-”
I laughed. The chagrin on her face and the way her cheeks bloomed with bright pink spots was entirely amusing. “Never said I didn’t work, just said I thought it was over rated.”
She relaxed when she realized I didn’t give a rats ass that she knew how much was in my account. “You should bait your hook with hot dogs. Fish love them.”
She was right, surprise rippled through me. “You can’t tell me a girl like you likes to fish.”
“And what,” she asked, arching a red brow in my direction, “is a girl like me?” she hit a couple keys and the little dispenser to my right started flinging out cash.
“You’re withdrawal is to your right.” she said professionally.
I let the cash sit there. “Are you a tomboy in disguise?” I whispered conspiratorially. I enjoyed the emotion, the animation that played over her features. She was beautiful that was no doubt but it seemed that she also had a lot beneath that pretty exterior.
“Don’t tell anyone,” she whispered back handing me a receipt.
Her teeth were really white and really straight. I got this sudden craving to run my tongue along their smooth surface.
“You’re secret is safe with me.” I tore my eyes away to pocket the cash, not bothering to count it. Oddly, I trusted her. I never trusted anyone.
Behind me a loud banging sound boomed through the room and I tensed, spinning on my heels. Four guys pushed through the entrance, each of them pulling out a gun.
I couldn’t even get away from this shit on vacation.
Adrenaline spiked my system and began pumping through my veins and accelerating my heart. It didn’t take an idiot to guess why they were here. This was a bank and they had guns. I looked over my shoulder at Taylor who was watching the men with wide eyes.
“Get down!” I ordered quietly. “Hide. Hide good.”
